Questions About Spiritual:
QUESTION: WHY DO WE LEARN ABOUT HEAVEN AND GOD INSTEAD OF HELL AND SATAN?
First of all Hell and Satan are serious matters which we should seek to
understand. The Christian life is like a war, it helps if we understand who
Satan the enemy is, and how he operates. Christians often talk more about God
and heaven because, the message of the Bible is good news. The word “Gospel”
means good news. The bad news is sin has separated us from God, and without a
saviour we are lost and hopeless, for the wages of sin is death, but the good
news is Jesus came to save us from our sin and give us eternal life.
Who is Satan?
-Satan is not a myth or a joke, He is very real.
-Satan is an angel that God created, which turned bad, and was thrown out of
heaven, with many other angels turned against God.
-Satan is an enemy of God (Luke 10:18-19)
What is Satan like?
The Bible describes him as an evil liar and a murderer (John 8:44) He is more
wicked than the most wicked and perverted person in the world. Satan want’s to
steal, kill and destroy all that God has made. (John 10:10) But Jesus wants to
give us life.
Angels are shape shifters, they can take on the form of animals, people, aliens
and anything else. In the garden of Eden Satan came to Eve as a serpent. Satan
can even transform himself into an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14) So Satan
often appears as something beautiful but underneath He is a disgusting and evil
creature, that wants to harm people.
What can Satan do?
Satan is much smaller than God. Satan's powers are very limited, there is a lot
he cannot do,
-Satan can’t force people to do bad things. But He can tempt people to have bad
thoughts, and if people listen to him, they will end up doing bad things.
-Satan does not know the future, and can’t read peoples thoughts, but God can do
both.
-Satan can only be in one place at one time, but God is everywhere.
-Satan and demons can posses people and animals which means they can enter
inside the person or animal and takes some or all control of the soul, mind or
body. Demons can’t enter a person when ever they way, they are usually let in or
invited by the individual. Some Christian believe the doors of a persons soul
may be opened to demons through such things as idol worship, occult games and
practices, spiritism, magic, taking mind altering drugs etc.
-Most of the evil in the world is caused by people choosing to follow Satan
rather than God.
How can we beat Satan?
We need to know the truth, and believe it, we can learn what is true by reading
the Bible and praying to God.
Before Jesus came Satan’s most powerful weapon was death, but when Satan struck
Jesus with his weapon, death was defeated. So now Satan is powerless, he is like
a toothless lion that roars and sounds dangerous, but really has no power.
Jesus power is greater than that of Satan, if we are being troubled by Satan or
demons, we can pray to Jesus and He will take care of the problem, and give us
power to be strong.
Satan only has as much power as we give him, we give him power by sinning. When
we sin we are following his ways rather than God’s.
Satan often influences our desires through our senses such as our eyes and ears,
Much of Satan’s evil is spread through TV, radio, music and other things
produced by people who are unknowingly following the ways of Satan.
Satan also projects thoughts directly into our minds, we cannot stop them, but
we can overcome them, by not dwelling on them. We must continually bring every
thought into captivity, into obedience to Christ. Treating intruding thoughts
like intruders in our house, pushing them out before they do any damage.
A ship is controlled by a Captain, so the body is controlled by the mind. Satan
and devils are always fighting for our mind. So we need to protect our mind from
things that can influence our thoughts. We need to be careful of what we read,
watch and listen to. If we fill our mind with the junk on radio, on TV, in
magazines etc, it becomes much harder to hear God's guiding voice among all the
noise and junk in our mind. And we will end up doing what Satan would have us
do.
-The Bible says Satan will flee when you resist him and submit to the Lord.
(James 4:7).
-Jesus came to deliver us from the power of Satan, by dying for our sins.
(Galatians 1:4)
-Satan only has power over people that sin. Satan has no power over Jesus
because he did not sin, and if we live in Jesus and Jesus lives in us, Satan has
no power over us.
What will happen to Satan?
After Jesus has come again, Satan will be thrown in the Lake of Fire (Revelation
20:10)
